Anyone know of any good fishing spots in York, Maine without using a boat?

Anyone know of any good fishing spots in the York, Kittery, Ogunquit, Wells area of Maine without using a boat?

Looking to fish either off of a bridge, pier etc... for striper, flounder or anything.

Also, is it better to fish when tides are coming in or out? High or low?

I've been fishing off a small boat close to the shore up here for a while, but won't have my boat this weekend.

Thumbs up Gillmont- lets catch some fish

    Hi Gillmont

Thanks for the heads up Vin....I havent been online for several days

I fish out of Eliot/York/Wells area

Here's my daytime phone number at work- just ask for Rich 207-351-1021- glad to talk anytime

    Tides-
Most of my friends like to fish into a high tide...then starting 1/2 hour off the high for up to 2 hrs

    Spots?
York- Rt.1 bridge (beside Bosn's Landing restaurant)- get your spot right out in the middle of the channel and let your line run right out there (almost no boat traffic to worry about)~ there's a good place to park your car on the north side of Rt 1 above the bridge. On a good day, you might see up to 10 people fishing both sides of the bridge

York- Long Sands Beach- all the way down in the corner by the Cutty Sark Hotel....target- big stripers (best in early hours or just before/into night) where the beach meets the jetty rocks- just off the high tide- wade out there above your waist- working toward the rocks- you'll notice that bait gets driven and trapped in this corner, especially if the wind is pushing that way as well- two monster 42" stripers were caught & released here last monday 23rd.

York- Long Sands Beach- the other end of LSbeach- near Libbys Campground- target flounder & striper- same deal as above- off the high tide- you might scope this out before the high tide to get your bearings on the rock structure here- cuz there's a lot to navigate- trying to get your line beyond the heavy rocks- I have some friends that go snorkeling and they tell me about the doormats that lurk in those waters- though I 've only tried fishing them from my boat

York- Nubble Light- target (baitfish- macks) & stripers & blues in later July; park at Sohier Park (free)- as you look at the Nubble Lighthouse light island- you want to fish the rocks on the right side that face back toward Long Sands Beach- there's always bait and top water activity near there- see what's happening before wetting your line

Kittery- do you know your way around? Rt 103 bridge where Spruce Creek dumps back into Pepperell Cove~ there have been tons of macks & herring there all year- with a sabiki rig- you should fill a cooler into & off the high tide- also a good place to find a big schoolie striper chasing the bait

Kittery- Ft Foster- if you can't drive into the park- you can walk (almost a mile)- fish off the pier- straight off the end will get you close to the current & channels that are a really good surf cast away- chunk bait at night here is the way to go- you should be able to catch live macks & fish them too

    Hope this helps!

    Capt Rich,
I definitely wasnt expecting this type of response, but want to thank you a lot for all the details. My family has a house in Cape Neddick, so this is all really good to know. I appreciate it.
