I pulled the plug on the season at Ryders cove the week before halloween, with my 21'cc. The weather this fall has sucked for small boats. GREAT Photos! Good decision.

Larry, as far as the USCG boats go, that is total BS that those boats lost the windows. These boats are built to be heavy weather boats. When they blew out the windows, the water shorted out all of the electronic controls and that is why they lost the engines on the first boat. The second boat went out after the first boat to rescue them and same thing, busted a window and lost one motor. It was rough but those boats have to be able to clear that bar in rough weather or there is no reason to have them stationed there. At $1.2 mil those boats should have the strongest windows made, clearly this was a design flaw and I hope the gov't holds the boat manufacturer accountable, luckly no-one was hurt bad. That inlet is nasty but these boats were bought specificly to deal with it being shallow draft, jet driven boats, designed to roll over and self rite. I have seen them out in the inlet in rougher weather. These were the first 2 of this design that the USCG had. Capt. Eric

Chum, Ed, or Stew would know better than I, but it can get real shallow... like around 3ft. in some spots. The sand that forms the break is constantly moving which complicates it even more.

Wait, so a self-righting capasizable boat doesnt have waterproof electrical controls? Whether its the window, the control systems, or water into the engine compartment there's gotta be some kinda of design flaw I would think.
