"If at first you don't succeed, don't try skydiving"
Anyone going to the edge Tues?
Thinking of making the first trip out to the edge tomorrow, looking for any "buddy boats" to share info with. Who's in? Simonsez on channel 6.

I'm not though my 2 cents of office side advice are to look at both wind and sea maps @ 4 and make a call then. NOAA's light and variable is not the same as what I'm seeing wind map wise.

Stop staring at my Avatar.
Kevin-
Saw you pulling out of Bassett's Island yesterday.
Back to your original question:
I will be going south tomorrow as well. If sea state allows, I plan to run to the edge. If not, I will work Dump to Lanes.

Larry, thanks for the input, i was hoping you would give me some Backman weather insight, as we all know you are the man when it comes to the offshore weather! I will look later and make a decision. Any help is appreciated!
Reel, i was in for dinner and ended up staying overnite! Mudslides!
I am going to re eval the weather later today, let me know what you decide!

We are going from Westport MA - 1 AM ish departure. Wind looks to be laying down mid-morning according to fishweater.com.
We are headed to the Veatch neighborhood and usually monitor 68. Boat is Snark/Albemarle 36

don't kill the trip on my account - if I could I'd make a day trip also; I just don't think its worth going "to the edge" in a 28' boat in less than optimal conditions. Your not going to make 25 knots on the way out and the further you go, the worse its going to get.
I'd be doing a Lanes foray if it were me....

I'll be headed to the Dump, and south as far as the lanes, from Mattapoisett if the weather reports don't change significantly. Solemate on Ch 68
Hoping LB will add his weather expertise one more time later today, as he is "the man" in that dept.

There is 70 degree water at the southern edge of the dump but no life............. report from yesterday's trip

After looking at the whole picture, we are not making the run. The reports from the dump/lanes are not that great. A friend made the run to W. Atlantis friday for 4 mahi. There are just not enough good reports for me to run to the lanes/dump. I will wait for another weather opportunity and hopefully there will be solid reports from all over! Good luck to all heading out tomorrow! Can't wait for the reports!

I'd go to the Dump/Lanes in an instant and make my own luck if I wasn't in a 2 day "Leadership/Strategy/Innovation" seminar. Great time for it
Wise assing aside - a boat at my dock got a bluefin just below the dump and a ton of mahi in the flyer fields below that. I heard of mahi at the Star, bluefin at the Banana.
We pulled a white out of a flyer at the bottom of the Lanes, and saw bait, birds and slicks here and there.
I am a very firm believer that if you go till you find life somewhere ~ 40 40 N and troll south 20-25 miles/ 3-4 hr's then work west and north you'll make your own luck along the way.
the weather is completely doable dump/lanes wise and anything's possible if you take the chance.
