First light yesterday there must have been 1000 dolphins swimming into the bay at the whiting grounds.

Never seen that many in my life. Didn't see one all summer in CCB, stellwagen. Did see pods of 20 or so on Georges.

Hammered the Tog yesterday in Newport - 50 fish day. Does that count?

Would love to do one more Tuna run but it doesnt sound like there is much going on at the Sword/BB area.

    Season is over for us

We fished Chatham yesterday from the old cut to Crab Ledge to Nauset and back again. We saw a few fish in 60 - 70 feet of water due east of the old cut early in the morning and that was it. Pleanty of whales, birds and bait, just very few tuna. That sums up our season in a nutshell, Steve (Chumtini) got a 48 inch fish on a splash bar at the BB bouy, but he was the only one we heard of getting bit. I know there were a few commerical fish taken on the bank yesterday, but we decided to pull the SeaHabit for the season. Good luck to those who stick it out and I hope to see you all on the water in 2012. Tight lines.

Got a late start. Halfway between monomoy and bc at first light, 50 plus whales at 80 ft. Would have driven through it unseen in the dark. Pounded it. No bait around. Headed out towards bc and sw. 225 feet deep. Blowing so hard against the tide we couldnt keep a 20 oz jig on the bottom. Headed inside offNauset. Not much happening there for the 2nd slack.

Did the 120 mile loop yesterday (tues). BB, Sword, Figs, BC, Nauset, Crab and everything in between.

Had a bite early at BB but never came tight. Hoo came back with a tuna bite mark. Saw two whales and porpoise milling around. Picked up and ran N after the AM slack. Sword looked bleak. Good cod fishing on the north side. Ran to Figs. A few comm boats chumming the flyers, a few rec boats drifting for cod. Trolled for a little while then made a couple drifts for cod.

NW of BC looked interesting, 350'. Didn't see anything. Just looked interesting LOL The big herd of pilot whales that we saw Sun had moved 30 miles North. But the birds were bunched up farting on the water. I hate that. We watched for a while, then kept trucking. Nauset was barren. Ran S and came across a spectacular scene with the Sunset to west, the near full moon rising from the east and big school of porpoise that contrasted against the pastel seas and skies. We had to stop and watch. It was incredible. Headed to Crab and gave it one last go for 2011.

All in all, a spectacular day to be OTW in NOV even though the great bluefin tuna had elluded.
