Got fish
Any weather guru's here???
Weather channel is saying wind are 84 MPH cuurently, 11 states are in a start of emergency... As I watch the reporters on the beach they say 15 foot waves crashing behind them, I then see the waves and there 6 foot tops... Roofs ripping off is a couple shingles, tree flying down the street are branches... Is this thing way over hyped? I say yes, but why? Who benifits from a hyped storm besides certain retail buisness's?
Anyway I've been watching the wind and the highest I have seen is 41 MPH.. Update the link and check this out, then look at weather channel... Am I reading this wrong? Its usually right on the money..

while it is certainly being overhyped, you can take a look at the bouy reports down off NC and virginia and that shows well above 40kt winds, up to 70, with waves at over 20 ft

If Ignorance is bliss, Why aren't more people happy?
The weather channel and the local and national news media are the real beneficiaries. It's the way they can get their viewership up...
In NC there is almost a law that you have to buy 2 gallons of milk and a couple of loaves of bread - every time a storm is declared - even if you are lactose and gluten intolerant...
There will be lots of power outages - mostly from downed trees and some flooding - but the hype is way too much.

So weather channel reporters still say 80mph, but on their site it says this:

Anthony's Ark is a blowboater
go to the national data buoy center website. the buoy at oregon inlet had winds at 50 gusts to 65 earlier today. buoys don't lie, is what it is.
I think the city of New York is over re-acting ten fold though....by the time it gets up here ill maybe be blowin 35-40 at the worst of it.
