Any Action from the fairway buoy area?
Anything going on in this area lately? I'll be in Newport for the weekend and looking to give it a try, but don't want to go for a boat ride... if you know what mean! Any help is appreciated!

The most recent reports I have heard was very few fish anywhere around BI. This was a few days ago. A lot could have changed since then. If it is going to happen, it ought to be soon. Planning on going this weekend, may end up doing a bottom trip if reports are still the same.
Good Luck, VC |

Just read a report From Snug Harbor that better numbers of Bluefin have been showing just south of BI. If these are the same size fish we had a few weeks ago, about 25-30lbs. was the norm.

We were out last week and there were some BIG marks on the FF in the schools of blues & bait. I would have to guess that there are some big fish out there somewhere........

Did a short unplanned troll Wed. afternoon with the wife. Was supposed to be a beach day by boat.
![]() Couple miles south of the island came across a few pods of Bluefin. Trolled a small spread for a couple hours basically fishing solo while wifey is reading a book, no takers. Dropped a jig for a while for the same. Marked plenty of fish as well but didn't hook up. Frustrating when you can see them up and down but no bites. ![]() TD 553/856 roughly. Will be back out there Sunday/Monday. |

Tons of sand eels there. Bass we caught last w/e were all spitting up sand eels. Same with the bft a few weeks ago.
Was hoping the draggers would set in at the Mudhole by now and concentrate things a little |
