question for you guys? what do you usually do when your on the anchor and you have 400 ft of line and you set up in two hundred feet of water. you hook up bam! do most of you come of anchor? and when you do what do you do with all your leftover line coil it up and toss it with the rest of you rline with a ball?

    whats you plan?

400 ft of line in 200 ft of water isn't that much to put out. Its actually on the short side. I know guys that put out 5-6x the depth. If you're in deep water you don't need as much line but it depends on the weather. I would highly suggest putting it all out, having coiled line on deck is asking for trouble.

we have to loops at the end of the line about 20 ft apart. one for the cleat and one to connect the poly ball. When you come back to the ball to reconnect you will appreciate the extra line so you can grab it with a gaff or boat hook and walk it up to the bow.

typical anchor set up for fishing is all your anchor line/poly ball/length of poly line with loop at the end. when you hook up throw the loop, when you come back to the ball the yellow poly line will be floating and easy to grab.

if you have a boat where it is a pain to run up to the bow rig yourself a pelican hook in the bow cleat and a length of hand line running back to the cockpit.

X2 on that . Just release from the cockpit , easy as pie.
