I have fished on the 36 Express a few times. VERY solid boat. PM "ALCAZAR" for more info on his boat.
Which model? There is quite a range in terms of beam, deadrise. I have run a 36 for two years and it is dry and stable.
thanks for the info! Anyone that has a Albermarle 290xf or330xf I would like some details on these two
Both of those are newer model hulls, beamier, modified v high volume. Both will be stable and dry but not as good in a headsea as oldre albes. Both have roomy cabins.
If you’re looking at the 29-33 Albie you should also check out the 28-32 Carolina Classic. I have had two of the 28 CC and they are a great running boat. I have been on an older 27 Albie and I was not very impressed with it.
The new Albemarle 36 with twin Volvo IPS rotation drives won best boat of 2010. I have owned a 24 and a 27 and loved them both. I will be upgrading soon and will consider another Albemarle or a displacement hull. You can tell a lot about a boat by the way people rig them. More often than not the Albemarles are rigged for serious offshore fishing. They also hold their value well. Check out the new 36' videos on youtube of the sideways docking. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=titn7Vu60fg
Any boat that size with a steep dead rise will churn when drift fishing in rough seas. If you use a drift anchor from the mid ship cleat it helps to reduce the effect. If you want a great drift fishing boat try out a down easter like the 38 Holland. There is a compromise with all hulls, if it slices like a knife in head seas it will drift lousy when taking the seas on the beam.
