Thinking about buying a bench crimper, but dont know much about them. How does the hi liner compare to the momoi? If anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.

IMHO, unless you are building rigs on a comm. level I would stay with a good pair of hand crimpers. For a good bench crimper Momoi makes a nice set where you buy the correct size dies for the crimps you are using. Expensive, but a nice tool. Capt. Eric
I have 26 spreader bars to re rig every year and I am getting quite tired of the hand crimpers....I have someone who wants to go in on it with me anyways. Just wondering how those two compare. Thank you for the advice.

If you really want to make the investment, avoid the bench tools that require die changes. Have a look at multi-position tools such as the one from Rite Angler, or the Nicopress 510 which has easy interchangeable heads.
Thank you I will take a look at it
You guys re-rig 26 spreader bars every year????????? That is nuts.
There are hand crimps called Pro-T 450H which are very nice and "heavy-duty", for handcrimpers. There is a bench version of this crimper called the 450B Bench tool. The only company I am able to find it at is blueoceantackle.com This tool has a series of different size slots from 1.3mm-4.4mm which is great for bars. The next size up bench crimp is great too (792B Bench tool) which is 1.6mm-5.6mm. The pin at the joint of these crimpers do wear down over time and need to be changed out after probably 500 bars. If you want to stay away from the die crimpers I would suggest these ones IMO. I have both the 450 and the 792...besides the pins wearing down they are easy to switch between teaser lines and your mainline crimps instead of switching dies or crimpers. Good luck!

I make Taylor or Kerry re-rig my bars almost every time they catch a fish. I bet they re-rig 4 to 5 per week for me. Freshly rigged bars are key to catching fish on them. just like your leaders for live bait. Clean Line no curly twist, Sharp Hooks, barrel swivels warp under pressure and break on the next fish. And my favorite cause for a rebuild is an exciting bluefish attack.
As far as Crimper's: I suck at knots and I like the low profile of crimps.
I have a pair of red handled old hand crimper's that have lasted for years. So get red handled onesAnd have Taylor and Kerry re-build your bars. They charge $25 new line, New beads, crimps, stops and swivels, New Hook, and its done in a day or two. I can't buy the parts for that.
although I understand the Hobby part of it.
Taylor ( Sears720 - Squid Bars Co.) or Kevin (Innovator - Offshore Innovations) are probably the most experienced for advice. They probably do more crimping than anyone on here. I know Taylor does over 1000 squid bars alone per year.

now i understand that opinions will vary but i'm gonna ask this question anyway.....how often should one re rig a bar? i only fished my bars one season ( meaning they got fisher maybe 10 times) they were rinsed with freshwater after everytrip hung to dry and then stored in their bags....i recently took them all out and hung them up to uncurl the line...not one of these rigs caught or even hooked up with a fish ( except two stripers) so do i need to re rig or can i get another season out of them???
