8-7-10 Back to my roots with a big bonus!

Given the recent restrictions handed down from the NMFS to the recreational tuna fishermen, I have completely switched gears and started shark fishing. So we left the Marina on Saturday and made it to our spot east of the bank by 8:30 am. By 10:30 we had our first visitor, a 9 foot Blue shark, and from then till 2:30 pm we had at least 3 sharks around the boat at once. My father jigged up a 35-40 pound cod. Kirsten caught her first shark, a 9 footer, by herself stand-up. It was jus an all around fun day. Alot les stressful than a tuna trip and much more rewarding. Also if someone lost a brand new Norwiegion jig to a shark I got it back but it's going to cost you! I'll let the pictures tell the rest of the story. Enjoy!

Nice cod. The sharks look like fun too.

Are your rods a little off spline? They seem to bend to one side or the other.

Thanks John! I have seen tuna sporadically on my way to and from the shark grounds the past 3 weeks. That being said I have not been able to figure them out and haven't been able to hook one since Memorial day weekend. I'm sick and tired of spending big $ on chasing uncooporative fish so I have started esclusively chasing sharks. Much better catching a bunch of sharks plus some tasty groundfish than maybe catching a tuna.

Thanks. Not sure the rods are off spline or not. I'll tell you that they are all store bought and have been great rods since I have owned them and have caught plenty of tuna and sharks on them.

How do you like the Alutecnos stand-up products vs the others? I saw obviously, you had a full array of the plates and harnesses.

It also appears that the fighting belt/plate is incorporated into the butt harness vs a seperate belt then the butt harness making it easier to just step into and clip to the rod lugs vs a two part operation, is that right?
