8-22-10 Should Have entered the Tournament!!

So here is the story, 1:30 am, I netted up a ton of poagies ready to splash around on the end of a hook. Picked up my budddies, and headed for Peaked Hill. I thought it was gonna be slow there, but anything beats the crowds at the bank. 6:00am -lines in. Kite is flyin great, and the drift is on. 7:15, the kite explodes. 15 minutes later a 50"+ so fish was released with no harm. Even got the hook back. Those dehookers are well worth the money. 7:45, repeated the same process with a little bigger fish. 8:30, we see some tails on the balloon, and come tight on a blue dog. Popped the leader. Sent out a wire leader to have some fun with a big blue shark. Waited ten minutes and at exactly the same time the kite and the ballon went off. Both drags screamin. The Kite rod sounded and made a nice 100yd run or so on my 17/0. The 50 international we had feels like we have a giant sea worm on the end of it. I could not make sense of how the fish was fighting. After ten minutes of hard stand up cranking, we the the shark boat side. Not a bad 8 footer or so. The leader had wrapped around the shark in front of the pec fins, and basically created a slip knot...still dont believe it myself. Un hooked the line off the leader, and released the shark. Abouth fifteen minutes later the tuna came up.. took several looks to decide on the length, and gaffed it into the boat. The fish taped out at 75". Called NAT and made the sale. Second fish the year goin to market This one is goin to Japan!!! I know I will be gunnin at the tournament next year!!!! I guess the check from NAT will ease my pain.

Nice job Sean! How much did it weigh!

I saw it on the truck when he came to get our fish. Looked good!

Thanks everyone! It was a great day. Im not sure on the weight? NAT did not have a scale when it went on the truck. I would guess around 220# tho after the hydro-gut. Your eye is prob better than mine anyway. Just want to give a huge thanks to Bryan and Taylor Sears. They have taught me some very valuable information, and I would not be doin so well without it. If anyone wants to learn how to fish like a pro, just go on a charter and watch these guys work. Hey does taylor have any of the body bags left in the basement...Kinda need one for friday
