I also found this site which has flashcards for Rules along with some powerpoint slides on Plotting and Marlinspike. The flashcards are painful to print correctly, but helpful nonetheless. www.ship468.org/advancement/able/

I take the exam in a couple weeks, so let's see how helpful all this really was...

I'll vouch for NE Maritime as well. Like you said Cally M, you have to devote a fair amount of time to the class for 2.5 months but they want you to succeed. They make sure you understand everything before test day comes along. If I could offer any advice I would say keep up with the take home work, take as many practice exams as you can, master the 10 plot with lots of repitition, and when exam day comes along you shouldn't have a problem. Is Charley still teaching over there??

Definitely. I'm a little shocked it's out there for free.

    Nice find KC!

Yes he is. He is probably the most knowledgable mariner I have met. International experience in various ship types. I am bummed that I had to pull out and not get my master's but I am gonna get fired if I don't sell something...

That's about $600 worth of free website right there.

You take those flash cards, read Chapman's for the deck general and safety issues and learn some basic plotting and you don't need a course.

i was just looking at the flash cards, i get the lights good but when they are shown on the ship, there is a part where there is a pattern of lights on a blue screen and no ship present, you have to guess what it is pretty much. is it like that on the test? i found that hard to figure out becuse your looking ontop
