    6/26 Shark Report

Finally got Get Reel away from the dock. With a crew of five we headed to a temp break in the vicinity of the fingers just north of the dump. Setup on the 68 degree side to drift into the cooler 65 degree water. Within 15 minutes of setting up we get a bluedog on the short bait…..uh oh. Well the next two hours produced a few bluedogs, but nothing to bad. Then they found us in force and the swarm was on. Could not get a bait passed them. Started playing with them on spinning rods. This was fun for a while, but there was no way we were going to catch targeted species with that many bluedogs around. With one chum bucket left, we picked up and moved to the inside fingers and a slightly cooler temp break (66 to 64). It took about an hour, but the bluedogs swarmed us again. This time they were bigger fish, mostly in the mid-200 pound range. Donated many more hooks, stopped counting after the first dozen for the day.

No pelagic sightings, just a few man-o-wars in the warmer water. I was really looking for a Mako on the warmer temp break, but I think I would have been better off targeting threshers closer in, in the cooler water. Weather was nice, and we had fun, so all in all it was a great day of catch and release. Several of theses blue sharks had been hooked before. One was trailing about 20 feet on long line mono gear which I was able to grab as he swam by and liberate him of it; others had some rusty jaw piercings, no tags though. Mako’s next weekend….I need some more scuffs in the hull.

Hey Will, Sorry i missed this one but I am in for the next one.

Never got your phone message untill late Friday night. Turned off my phone while we were at Childrens and forgot it was off untill i went to plug it in Friday night. I did send a reply to your email Friday morning, not sure if you saw it.

Anyway, all good news on Friday. No cartio issues at all. It has had no effect on the heart yet. Everything is normal. Big sigh of relief. Still have a few more test over the next month or so but good news makes it eiser to cope.

I have a 4 day weekend this weekend Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon. Lets plan somthing..
