52" BFT for the Labrador on Saturday

It's been tuna wishing, not tuna fishing for most of us off the coast of Scituate in the wake of 'hurri-lame' Earl. Gratefully, Earl unleashed no fury on the local area homes, boats, and coastline - the same may not be said however about the fishing conditions on Stellwagen bank.

With odds against us, the Labrador headed out with a Mass Bay Guides charter for a tuna troll off the east side of the bank. We were trolling with a black Taylor Sears squid bar in the way back position for about 45 minutes when a BFT smashed our rig. Fifteen minutes later we had a 52" BFT on board for our charter. From there we went to a new MBG secret spot to catch giant pollock and blue sharks for the remainder of the day.... don't worry, I am sure it wont remain a secret for long.

A good time was had by all and the charter party returned for more fishing today - nothing to report except that we are all sore from trying to stay upright in the heavy chop. - Captain Don Campbell

We passed you at a distance around 8:00 am this morning. Today was brutal. Wind did not turn north as NOAA had predicted and that easterly chop made trolling very unpleasant in a center console with an 8 foot beam. Got knocked around pretty good and didn't mark any bait or fish. Water temps were like 62.5. Grim.

    At least the Pats won.
