We had a very successful tagging day with the UNH tagging team on board as well as the Jack Kay party. We headed out east and got on the troll in the dark. With first light we found some huge fast moving schools up and running everywhere. We had to wait for our turn and then we got a bite on the left short "Red Iquana" bar and we soon had our first SAT tag of the season swimming around. We put the spread out and the center rigger, "Widowmaker" gets crushed and tag # 2 gets deployed. Both fish were small, at the 45 inch mark. The fish then went down and we moved due to some radio chatter and a call from Ken on the "Glory B" who said he was seeing lots of fish. We set up and chased the fish for along time. Finally the center rigger gets crushed and we have tag #3 out swimming around. We turned around and started to set the spread when the short right rigger goes off, "Big black", and soon we get this fish to the boat, a tad bigger at 52 inches and he swims away with his new tail piece. All in all a great day and some nice work for the UNH team. Back out in the morning. Lots of fish around and I mean miles and miles and miles of fish. Just keep hammering them and you can get them to bite the bars. Had the meat out and never got touched. Good luck. The shear numbers of fish out east is staggering, guys, and I mean miles of them. They were all over the place today. Capt. Eric

Great work on the tags, and thanks for the report. I think it's mid-January before we get the great white data. Can't wait. Would love to hear about this tuna data too.
