Sorry for the late report, but Wednesday, April 21 was another great day on the Viking Star!
Fishing in the morning started off with a steady pick of Cod and Haddock with a few pollack mixed in. Nothing crazy, but steady fishing over all and all on jigs again. We stuck with the pick and worked on the fish until things turned off with the tide. Capt. Steven Jr then decided to go look in some deeper water for some haddock, but only a few were caught. It was getting late, but with just a so-so catch aboard, Capt. Steven Jr decided to take a 5 mile ride further from the dock and got ontop of a mother load! It was a regular Pollack slamfest, with double headers the norm and drop to the bottom and reel fishing! There were also quite a few haddock in the mix as well as some cod! Coolers filled up very quickly with this great fishing, and Capt. Steven stayed late to ensure everyone was filled up with fish! Phil Curcio took the Cod pool with a 18 pounder! Way to go Phil! Also, regular fisherman Frank Volta took the largest edible pool at the very end of the trip with a 25 lb Pollack! Thursday and Friday are no sails, but Sat and Sun look good!
