(2/10/2012) - One week from today, the New York Sportfishing Federation's 30th Annual Forum and Auction will officially open its doors for the President's Day Weekend.
The 30th Annual New York Sportfishing Federation Forum & Auction is being held at the Freeport Recreation Center from February 17-19, 2012 with seminars by the region's top fishermen. The "can't miss" sportfishing event of the year in New York, the show will open on Friday, February 17th at 2 p.m. with a good crowd expected early as anglers search out the best early deals to be found among the more than 50 exhibitor booths.
A Freeport Show exclusive to kick off the President's Day Weekend event is an interactive presentation by Rick Robins, chairman of the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council (MAFMC), who will be hosting a public forum for show attendees on Friday, February 17th at 4 p.m. to help open the lines of communication between the council and our New York anglers.
As the regional council established under federal law to prepare fishery management plans for important New York fish stocks like porgies, black sea bass and fluke, the MAFMC consists of various representatives from throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, including New York. Creating a Vision for Mid-Atlantic Fisheries: A Discussion with Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council Chairman Rick Robins will provide a unique roundtable forum for New York anglers to give valuable feedback to the MAFMC for helping improve future management and communication. This event is free and open to the public!
A full day of seminars will commence following the doors opening at 8 a.m. on Saturday, February 18th, and will continue until the show closing at 6 p.m. with local experts like captains Rich Tenreiro, Tom Mikoleski, Jerry "Capt.
