Yes quite obviously, since no girth measurement is reported to the NMFS.

I didn't quite understand why the headline of your previous post read "I do" after you had provided the incorrect equation before...

Trophy quota should be closed. Last year the trophy quota for the North Angling category was 1.7mt. That's 3,740lbs. That's 15 250lb fish. Just forget it. And the first thing most reacreational guys do if they catch a trophy over 73" is how am I going to sell this thing and get the $25,000 it's worth. Start seeing $ signs. Then if they do manage to sell it and they get the check reality sets in. Just close trophy all together and get rid of the problem.

What do they do with the 1.7mt left over from the trophy category? At any given point and time if a recreational fisherman wants to sell his catch all he needs to do is jump into the general category invest another 10>15k for equipment and presto, now he needs to focus on catching only giants if he wants to get paid for them. As far as finding a buyer well the buyers need to make money and they don’t make it if they aren’t buying fish. I think most recreational fishing guys would like to be able to catch and keep the one trophy fish and the thought of selling it isn’t the motivation for catching it. If I were in the rec category I would like the option of being able to catch the fish of a lifetime and keep it and not have to spend the extra cash to do so because when that happens, well Pandora’s box will open this is only my thoughts on the topic I am not saying they are right or wrong.

I am confused. You make $25,000 per fish?? If so you have been doing the math way wrong on my 30%.
