One of those bigger fish can teach a captain more about boat handling than a whole season of 40-60lbrs.

Great job on the fish. I saw you call for one and wished I was closer.

Nicely done Larry, congrats.
Enjoyed the read and sand eel pic, thks.

I had to chuckle seeing the light tackle poking out in one of the pics; nice rig, did it ever get used this year?:

Here are some other shots of the fish--not necessarily better, just different...unfortunately due to said child, my wife had the good camera, leaving me with the ole point n shoot.

JJ's Fantastic Gaff Shot!!!

Gaff shot was so good, we could not remove it, until the fish was in the boat. Nothing a couple of lashes around the gaff couldn't solve.

Amazing mass of sandeels in the belly. I thought it was a bluefish before we cut into it.

Larry sells his efforts short on spinning Skipjack round n round to get through the pots. JJ was also amazing, first at clearing, and then at directing traffic, and communicating what was happening, he was always was a step ahead of the fish. Both were masterful--there were many ways for us to have lost this fish, but fortunately things worked out. It makes pulling on the fish easy when there is nothing else to worry about.
