10-25-09 tuna

Headed out late today to try and avoid the rough stuff this morning. Got out to the SWC and put the first lure out on the rigger and went to put the second on the other when the first popped. WERE ONNNNN!!!! fish makes a good first run and for the first time we see backing on the 80s. Fish behaved and came to the boat 15 minutes later my dad hopped on the rod, I grabbed the harpoon. He made one circle and came up and we stuck him with the poon. 66'' fish in the boat. Heard there were some fish 2 miles north so we headed that way. Trolling along when I see the right rigger get hit twice, swings and misses, then the left rigger pops. Were on again. Smaller fish, get it to the boat and it goes to make a run and the hook pulls. Oh well, more fish popping everywhere. Got the spread back out and we see the left rigger get hit, and were on. Get it to the boat and put a gaff in its lip. Measure and its 46''. Decided to take him too....need to stock the freezer for the winter Not a bad day, little rough when we first got out but it layed down to 2-3s. The best part is, we even got to sleep in this morning Pictures to come.

Congrats on a great day. Fishing live baits or artificials? Seems like many of us have moved to artificial with good success in the past few weeks.

Good job! Nothing like a late season double header.
Unfortunately, my season is done. Hauled reel pursuit today. Time to dig out the shotgun.
