We arrived on site at about 7:15 since I was not running anywhere before first light without radar. Found some birds and two whales. That lasted about 10 minutes. That was the last concentration of life we saw all day.

Without a GPS it was sort of hard to work depth lines and with no birds or other visable signs of life we just troll around general areas aimlessly.

There were not a lot of boats around the PH or SWC area surprisingly. I thought I saw Eastwind hook up. I don't know who bought her from Mike so I can't ask... Other than that we saw three other boats back at the dock who we trolled around with out there. They were all skunked as welll.

Strange how the fish disapeared all at once...

The ride back was impressive. The boat ate up the 3 footers at 20 knots. It was so smooth that my youngest fell asleep... Impressive display. I think I am going to like this boat next year.

There were fish from the SE corner all the way north on the eastern side, Mike. The morning feed on halfbeaks was the most impressive I have seen.

    What time?

I turned south and back north.... I should have kept running east. I saw boats out that way, but they all looked commercial.

Some times you zig when you should have zagged

was it truly white or mottled grey? We see pods of 10's and 20's of Risso's dolphins in the canyons which are large bulbous headed porpoises which are almost the size of pilot whales. They are slow and shy compared to the more playful white sided and common porpoises and dolphins.

Google them as well as beluga's and you'll find its much more likely to have been a Risso's than a beluga based on range and temperature.

I only saw it surface once, and after looking on google, it was not a risso's dolphin. It was all white. It may have been a beluga, but I have never heard of beluga's in this area.

We can, and it does...... BUT! It was 3-4's when YOU left. We got into some stuff around Monomoy later on that would have slowed a 52' Viking down to headway speed. That last 9 miles is a B:TCH when the wind and tide oppose!

Ruge and I were talking onthe ride through the slop, saying "Man I hope Larry's tied up at the dock by now, this would be a a$$ kicking ride all the way home to Falmouth in this stuff"

believe it or not; only about 6 miles of it are hellacious; Monomoy -> Bishops is the bad stretch and the 1st 2 miles your on top of Rodgers Shoal so its not too bad; once you get about 2 miles from the red can south of Bishops you can change the angle 20 degrees or so and start to take it on the shoulder at which point 18-19 knots is possible. Past the shipping channel you start getting lee from Horse Shoe, Succonnesset, etc. and can bang along planing at 22 knots.

And we were lucky - the wind was not against tide.

I wonder how OHana made out on his 1st ride westwards down sound
