I recently bought these two 65gr - 2 1/4 oz Williamson Gyro jigs for some light jigging in deep estuary lagoons where big snappers, groupers and corvinas are usually found. I changed the tail end triples for some front tied assist hooks and to my surprise, when testing that the connections made with the metal leader, only with my hands, the swivel suddenly snapped. I tested the approximate same strength on my scale and it said around 20 kg or 44lb. It's not everyday one gets so lucky to get a fish that tops the scale at that weight, but just in case the lure should be able to resist.
From the very first time I saw that swivel I thought it was kind of small to handle big fish which are usually what deep jigging is about. Anyway I just flipped it and tied it the same, and actually think the weight distribution is better this way. All I have to do is go test them.
