I've always used bucktail jigs when deep jigging and take pride in tying my own. I make a lot of my own tackle, rods, jigs, fly's, chugger plugs etc.
Well with the current craze over speed jigging, I figured I'd give that a try sometime but couldn't see spending a lot of bucks on the price of these things. I visited my local thrift shop and picked up some stainless table knives on the cheap and disappeared into my workshop. Using a sawsall, I whacked the blade off, drilled a hole and ground the edge a little bit. The solid ring is made from the core of an old teleflex cable which was brazed with a handy dandy brazing kit from Ace Hardware. A little help from the videos on YouTube assisted in making the assist hooks (6/0 Mustad) with 80# Dacron. The whole thing weighs 2.25 oz.
