    I thought so too, so I stiffened the dacron with some homemade Dave's Flexcement (Goop mixed with toluene). I tie my own flys too

    Good plan, as I have used dacron to rig up an assist, and did have problems with the dacron being too limp.



    But it still caught fish



    I switched the 300# mono, plenty stiff

    My friend caught a 30# striper on a jig made out of a butter knife. They work well but tend to be a little light for fishing deep water.
