Post Whats your take on this guys?

    CaboPT Conventional
All-new for 2009, the Cabo PT star drag conventional series is the result of having the finest engineering and design technologies available from concept to final product.
With no baggage from old tooling or previous models to bog us down, we were able to start with a clean slate and build these reels to meet the needs of modern day anglers.

Cabo PT conventional reels feature a cast aluminum one-piece frame with aluminum side covers, 8 PT hybrid polymer-stainless bearings, an oversized brass main gear and brass pinion, and a carbon fiber multi-stack drag for supreme performance.

Three different models to choose from, Cabo PT conventional reels also feature our exclusive Saltgard™ 6-layer corrosion protection finish.

Carbon fiber multi-stack drag system [info]
    Continuous Anti-Reverse with back-up pawl/ratchet system
Oversized brass main gear and brass pinion [info]

I just ordered one and am quite interested to see how this performs. There are 3 new models out Each are CNW HPT's.A 16-20-30 the 16model weighs 24.7oz the 20 @25.2oz and the 30@26.9oz. each is capable of producing 23lbs of max drag.I cant loose with the price of the reel and if nothing else will put it on my new F series trevala!

    Some info in this thread:

    concentional jigging reel

I am 99% sure that the Fin-Nor OFC series is the same reel as the new Quantum Cabo PT Conventional series. I have used a Fin-Nor OFC16L since May. The Fin-Nor OFC16 and the Quantum CNW16 are essentially the same reel. The CNW16 has a different finish and more bearings, that is the only difference I can see. I have absolutely brutalized the OFC16L and have not done any maintenance what so ever and it is still going strong. Here are my observations on the OFC16L:

1 - Free spool sucks. There is a bushing on the spool shaft. Replacing this bushing with a bearing should fix the free spool.

2 - The reel comes with carbon drag disk. Out of the box, the drag was not smooth, so I greased the stock carbon drag disk and re-installed. Since then, the drag has been silky smooth and not a seconds trouble.

3 - The Anti-reverses is beefier than that of a saltist or torium. I tried to bust the ANTI on this reel several times and it has worked great.

The new Quantum has more bearings out of the box so the free spool problem should be fixed if the bearings are in the right spots. I have high hopes for this reel and I plan on picking one up and testing it soon.

    They retail from about $200.00-$230.00

Wouldent you think that this is A newly designed reel as it has 8 bearings? How is quantum affiliated with Fin-Nor?I have been with shimano so long I dont have any idea who owns who anymore.Does Quantum own Fin-Nor?

I thought the same thing!I wont get much use out of it this winter other than toggin and seabass but come june I will test it out on some mako and blue shark or maybe even A thresher! But not in any of my tourneys! For fear that this reel might give out at the worst moment and loose A money fish!MY LUCK!lol

The next bite on a jig.
This reel is all Pete has talked about for the last few weeks. We have high hopes. I can vouch for the abuse on the on the Fin-nor 16L conventional over the summer. I don't think you could break that one even trying.

I myself put a smack down on some red groupers with the 16L, right at the end of the day once over the summer.
