Lets get some opinions, who makes the best jigging rod? What about best bang for the buck? Whats your best catch on a rod to prove it? How long has it produced?

1. Hots Wei World 48XXH or 52XH. Weighs about 6-7 ounces and has caught fish over 200#'s. Very expensive but so is everything fishing related. Retails for like $459. Its a very highly coveted imported jigging rod from Japan been produced for years that is easy on you while hard on the fish. Paired with a stella there is no better combo in my mind
2. I would also say the Tuna Max line made by Randy at Anglers Pros Shops has slayed several fish over the 200# mark this year but is easy on the angler and is very reasonable in the $300-400 range followed by JM's from JPR
the best jigging rod also pertains to ones jigging style, I was refering to the jerk/crank technique. Yo-Yo or slow jig there will be longer and better alternatives
I've got a question...What the best rod for fish between 300-400lbs. Can it be done?
I'm thinking about trying to do a winter giant here in Morehead.
Why not? It would just take a little longer right? You have to hook him up though, thats the challenge. If you got some of them heavy duty Jap rods and a big Stella and someone to drive the boat, and you gotta be ready to fight, it could happen. I bet someone up north has caught one that big. i was talkin to some guys who had caught a 220.
i know i came in third above
but if i can get the blanks from randy (which he offerd me)
i can move to a tie for #2![]()
and that would be competing with a imported production rod
which i actually like
BUT
for alot of guys tryign to use a 4'8" rod to control a BIG tuna in depth spin around the boat may be a challange..it does take a little experance
who make "the best"
some guys LOVE the shemano Jiggingrods
so to them they are "the best"
i do give kodos to shemano for marketing.... not jigging rods.
except the ones they dont sell/market in the USA
i am a custom guy
i try to do the best with what i have to work with
right now it is the JM and OTI
and for a longer rod the GUSA which i worked on the design of the blank with GUSA
to mimic a 8' rod that has been proven a great rod and for BIG fish
but typically 8' =is to long for some
so the 7' eastcoat was designed
best bang for the buck
there are alot of cheap starter rods out there
OTI, hooper.
i usually tell the guys to use what they have to start and save for a serious setup
What I want to do and what I can afford to do right now are at opposing ends. To do it though, I would have to be ready the first week of December.
A day of jigging at the Shad Boat Bouy in December might be interesting.
This was one we got just south of there two years ago.

yeah thats about the size of fish i build the rods for
what reel are you going to use for this rod
I wasn't saying your third, the JM rods you build are great custom rods however I don't use conventional anymore so I don't get to use them as much. Im a spinner guy now. I just personally like the Hots Rods you cant beat the weight and power combo unmatched IMHO and I have never had any issue fighting a fish under the boat with them I actually prefer the 52EX which is a little longer
