We will be running jigging charters over July 4th weekend targeting bluefin up to 100 lbs and soon up to 200 lbs out of Cape May on the 55 Hooked Up II

The bluefin are here now with some being caught up close to 100 lbs and we want to do at least one trip over July 4th weekend where we jig only for them and then at least a couple every week throughout July. Goal is to catch a 200 lb plus bluefin on a jig this summer. Contact me by e-mail at cavemansportfishing@comcast.net or (609)425-1970

First jig trip on July 3 or 4 and again July 7 or 8

As of tonight the weather looks okay for this coming Wed July 3 or mabe the 4 if the marine weather forecast should change. Paul e-mailed me and said he might not be able to get away over the July 4th Holiday Weekend and as of today I have not gotten back to him on dates. I would also like to do another jig trip on July 7 or 8 if we have decent sea conditions. I will try to do at least one jig trip a week until we get real busy with trolling charters which starts on July 14 and most of that week and then there is the Mid-Atlantic Tuna Tournament that following weekend. I normally start the bluefin inshore down off Ocean City, MD and very few know the exact hills I have been fishing down there for almost 20 years. We have always trolled them early season and never jigged this early but this year the bigger bluefin arrived a little earlier than normal but I cannot guarentee the quality of jigging but very anxious to give it a shot. My first bluefin trip last year was July 2 and we had 9 trolling in the 45-90 lb range fishing off these same lumps of OCMD. I know we can troll up a bunch of them now but jigging is another story. I have a particular interest if we can get one of those 200 lb slogs to eat a jig behind a scallop boat and as soon as I get some information from the scallopers I know that they have bluefin behind their boats I will be out there in the middle of the night fishing for the slobs. I will know more about this later next week as my contacts are leaving early next week to work the scallop grounds off Cape May. I will get a heads up if there are any big bluefin around but will be not sharing this information except with my crew and customers. The one thing I know is on our first jig trip we will be running south a ways and be arriving early am before daybreak.

If the we have enough anglers and the weather is good we will go July 5th.

Right now I am looking at the first jig only trip on July 3 and then another on July 4 or 5 depending on number of anglers and weather. Would also like to do the July 7 or 8 also as I love jigging on weekdays with the lighter boat traffic.
