    Wanting to learn???

I really want to try virt. jigging but have questions??
With the butterfly jigs it seems like you're line would always get cut since you tie on where the hooks are?
Do you use a wire leader?
I have #80 on my reels and, at this time #40 mono as a leader about 15' long. Is this the way to go? Or do I need to add a wire leader to the end of this set up?
Sorry for the question,,, never done this and want to learn so badly!!!

Dyllan- vert jigging is very addicting, so be careful

Depending on what you're fishing for, 40# test should be fine as leader stock, and your set up should work fine (I'm assuming that the 80# is spectra). Just tie your line onto the set ring, attach the hook to the set ring, and then use the split ring to attach your jig and you'll be off to the races. No worries about the hook cutting off your main line- check it every once in a while for knicks and such, but other than that you'll be good to go.

Good luck, and let us know how you make out!

The next bite on a jig.
Dyylan, there is a ton of info online, but with any kind of fishing the best way to learn is to go with someone.

I learned more in one day on Di'hrd Fishing Charters, than I would have in months of reading. He is out of Carolina Beach. If you want his number just shoot me a note.

There is a rythem to this stuff that you just have to experience once to get the hang of it.

For AJs, use longer, skinny jigs with a short, erratic and fast jigging motion; WOW! look at all those adjectives lol. Put your time in, make sure you've got current, make sure you're drifting the right way...and you'll catch.

Anyone try a spro inline swivel at the spit ring head end of the jig and tie leader direct to the swivel? Any impaired action?

should work fine as well, might even keep your line from twisting so much. I don't see where it would hurt anything as long as the split ring had some wiggle room and not bound up.
