    Black Magic belts

Is there a specific type or model number for jigging that you feel works the best for charter anglers. I have many belts on board but all for stand-up fishing. I reviewed your post on belts plus ones from Black Magic.
    Thank you

The jigging and popping belts are all made small, but when it comes to tuna pushing the 200 mark you need regular stand up style belts that are lower hanging belts IMHO. The black magic belt is the best in it's class and I've tried them all. It's a larger plate but it's nice because it's hollow so it weighs virtually nothing and it helps beat fish much quicker because u don't fatigue as easy. They make two sizes either will do I have the regulate plate they also make a larger version

Same belt I use for stand up fishing with 80w's and bent butts. Great multi purpose belt

    One last question

We do not see very many 200 lb tuna every summer down off Cape May but you never know and when the accomplished jigging anglers fished on our boat in the past some had those small belts you mentioned and that is what I am most interested in right now. I would like to have a couple on board for our customers for the 60-65 inch fish but probably will pick up one of the regular Black Magic belts also for stand-up fishing and to have if we do find some 70 inch plus Bluefin this coming summer.
    Thank you

No problem John, I was just giving you my "non accomplished" advice I'm sure some of those anglers will chime in on what belts they prefer. Small belts wear u out quicker and that's a fact not an opinion

Hey Glen - Is there a consistent average fight time with the gear you use on one of these tuna?

    Cassidy,

I boated a 180 in 9 minutes per the captains watch but most are about 20-25 Minutes max for me, it really depending on the anglers fighting style. I use a lot of heat around the boat as I palm my spool most of fight. I've seen some fights that last an hour. Really depends on how fish react to hookset. I've seen two types

    1. Tuna that sounds is a longer fight as we are in 900' so getting them back up is a task

    2. Tuna that run on top and away from boat, these fish act confused and are much easier to land

After seeing reports like these I had to finally bite the bullet and buy a Stella 20000. I needed a spinner for popping but also needed something bigger to jig fish like these. Can't wait to hear it sing!
