ULTRA-LIMITED 3-day Dry Tortugas JIGGING/Mutton Charter on the Yankee Capts, Nov 15-19

    Hey Gang,

Capt. Greg and I have arranged a charter aboard the Yankee Capts out of Key West during the week of November 15, targeting a variety of species with jigs during the day and fishing for mutton snapper at night with bait. While these trips typically target muttons around the clock, the grounds surrounding the Tortugas hold tremendous potential for jig fishermen, with various species of snapper and grouper, amberjacks, african pompano, and pelagic species such as blackfin tuna, mahi mahi, and maybe even some wahoo.

Greg typically experiences some of his most consistent fishing and weather during the month of November, and jig-eating kingfish typically don't show until December, so we've blocked out the week of November 15-19, and will pick the three best weather days to fish. We will leave sometime after 8PM Monday and will be back to the dock by 2PM Friday. The typical 3-day trip leaves at 10PM and returns at 2PM on the third day (say, if you leave at 10pm on monday, you're back at the dock by 2pm on thursday). So, we'll be able to adjust to make sure we get the best weather possible.

You should come into Key West during the day/afternoon on Monday and expect to leave sometime late afternoon/evening on Friday. YOU MUST BE ABLE TO BE IN KEY WEST DURING ALL FIVE DAYS IN ORDER TO BE ON THE TRIP. Anglers are free to sleep on the boat on the nights the boat is tied to the dock.

The trip is limited to 15 people, and costs $600, food included. A $250 deposit is required by SEPTEMBER 23. Please send checks to:

    Yankee Capts Offshore Fishing
    PO Box 2157
    Key West Fl, 33045

Indicate that the check is for "Willy G's charter"

Here is a report from a trip I made last March that inspired this charter:

Some general info about the boat can be found at www.yankeecapts.com. Feel free to e-mail capt. Greg with additional questions: greg@yankeecapts.com. Please post here if you are interested in committing to the trip or have more questions!

That should be a great trip. November would be a good time to escape the cold and head south. I will keep it on the radar screen for sure.

Is it 600 for all three days? Will the boat be back at dock each night it fishes or stay out for three days?

they leave from key west and stay out the whole time. You can fish 24 hrs if you want, the muttons usually bite really well at Sunrise and Sunset. From what I understand they just last year redid all the bunks, and the galley food is incredible.

Doing one of the limited load trips is on my list of fishing trips to do, they absolutely murder muttons (up to 20lbs+) on that boat. Its the only headboat besides a San Diego trip that I have any desire to go on.

Search FS Forum for yankee capts and you'll see a bunch of reports.

You need to look into the Big E in Texas. Thats one on my list to hit sometime soon, but this sounds good too.

checked em out....ehhh. Looks like there would be a lot of aggravating rednecks on board.

Limited Load trip on the Yankee and a 10-15 day trip on a San Diego Long Range boat are the only headboat trips i'm interested in.

There is if you post up on the net that your going and everyone else jumps on and the boats full. Best time to go On the the big E is after a holiday weekend. Generally there is only 20-25 people and most of them are chunking all night out of my way.

The Big E is the premier tuna "party" boat in the gulf

Ya posted this thread where are ya ?
I have wanted to go the the dry tortugas for a while.

So whats the real deal ?
Ya talk about fishing the best 3 days but leaving the dock
after 8pm Monday and returning before 2pm friday.
Are we leaving Monday night and returning Friday afternoon
or are there some other optional days that I have to be around for?
When exactly do I have to be there ?
If I fly into Key west Monday will I be on the boat till
Friday or do I need to get a room for lay days ?
    Whats the story ?

    How big is the boat.
More questions to follow if you answer these.

Wow willy this should be a great trip.

I have a 4 day way out west trip set up for Thanksgiving weekend with Capt.Yuri.

I am going to see if I can get the rest of my vacation and if I can afford a 2nd trip on the same month.

Keep us posted on the amount of people you have reserved.
