TRIP REPORT

trip was on the voyager from point pleasant NJ,
nice 85' boat, it was the first time on the boat for me, and i was very happy with the room and bunks avail..

we had the john baker 6 on board to check out. the new silver handle is sweet
we had the new everol 12/20 2spd to check out.

there was a good asssortment of jig and bait rods
**** M had his acid roller rod
almost all the customs were acid wrapped,

the trip left a little after 5pm
with the fishing being slow we were hoping for the best.
the last few trips the bite has been around 4am -5am, so we had pleanty of time to prep and rest,
we put some bait rods out, while we were waiting for the jig bite
had some fun catching all the squid you wanted
squid jigging

it was about 4:15 and a rod goes off.
at that time everyone starts jigging
we had some fish hooked up, got a few to the boat
longfin and yellow fin
i was using 200g jigs
The flurry lasted a little while.

we decided to move in and see if the bluefin bite was there.
we got set and we got hooked up with bluefish and some bluefin tuna
all jigging.
the current was pretty good
we were marking some fish.
and were using 300g and bigger jigs most of the time catching the bluefins,
overall a slow nite but we got some fish. and as always had a great time

Good to see you had a decent trip and lots of fun. SO what were your thoughts of the JB6? They are true battle pieces. I think you guys were able to make the most of it considering how the YFT bite has been.

The JB 6 is nice.
i REALLY like the metal handle it comes with..
it has no lugs..not a big deal. but for someone wanting to use a clip, it may be.
built nice, the fit is good, finish is clean
it is another good choice for bait fishing
we also had the everol 12/20 on the trip..another good choice in this class
i may look into trying them for upcoming trips..
