    trevala question

I am wondering what the differences are between the orginal and the F series. I am looking at the TCSXXH58 and the TFSXX58. I am planning on matching either of these with a spheros reel. What size would be best 14000 or 18000? Please help thank you.

You will probably get so many answers tot his question you will be more confused than when you started.

Main difference I think is weight. Smaller differences is quality. Both have the same warranty. If you are going to jig a lot and all day, get the F because it is lighter. If you go every now and then get there regular and save your money to buy jigs. If money isnt a problem get the F.

Thats my simple novice answer. If you are picking a rod strength, make sure you match it to what size jig you are going to use. Don't grab the XXH because its the siffest

I'm not sure on the blank construction, but I do know the TFS-58XXH has fuji SiC guides and the TVS-58XXH doesn't (I think it has hardloy guides). The SiC guides are much harder material and will hold up much much better to braided line.

As far as the reels go, there isn't much difference in line capacity between the two. Shimano says that the 18000FB is actually a little lighter though, so why not get the 18000. I think the difference in wieght might be in the spool. It looks like the 14000 spool is a little shallower and the 18000 being a little deeper.

the F series rods have a better grips, better guides and the blank seems to have a TINY bit more backbone. Its still a noodle but a great entry level rod with a no nonsense warranty

i think its the guides and grips. here is a pic of the plain jane trevalla of mine that mike pedersen of riley rods put a nice foregrip on. instant hit!! so much better and it does not void the warranty because its heat shrunk on there. save some $.

you might want to check out riley rods and forget the trevalla. he will customize it just to your specifications and he can do about anything with them. going by and seeing mines progress today.
