I haven't either and I fish my 30T fully cranked over all the time. On that big cobia on Saturday, Dihrd was kind enough to remind me to loosen it up a little when it came up to the boat in case it ran hard, but everything else the entire summer was locked all the way over.

Everyone mentioned that you can put anymore than 18lbs or so of drag on the Toriums, is there a way to fix that? Switch out that bearing and pawl with a more sturdier set?

    Thanks,
    Tim

just some fyi, my dad and i just sent both our toriums back n a 16 and 30. shimano basically replaced the gutts it seems with the upgrades and a new side plate on the side of the handle. i have not taken them back appart the make sure this is what was actually done but have put a little pressure on the reel on the rod and it appears to be fixed right. cost was $30 and cost to ship to them. no additional charges. both of these reels were used very hard in about as bad as condition as you could get. took less than 2 weeks for them to turn around.

Daren, i just got my new tyrnos 16II. you'll have to check it out. Sean i interested in seeing it too. a little big for all day jigging and shallow water, but i think it is still lighter than the torsa and will haul a grouper off the bottom. I just got back from colorado, but with the weather we have off-shore, maybe we can get back out there soon for a little daytime swordy action if that water stays around and we can get a weekend weather window. Sounds good Casey. I still need to get with you to make up that day time rig. I have got some killer swivels for it.
