Is there a cure for this disease?

I'm in the early stages of this chronic disorder that's called vertical Jigging.I remember just starting out with diamond jigs for striper and blues,a few Buck tails for fluke, maybe a crippled herring for false Albacore's.Life so so simple back than

My next transgression was to buy some Megabait jigs of coarse I found out that my Penn reels where not up the the challenge and I needed better reels,I need to be able to cast further and retrieve quicker.Time for upgrades bought new Shimano's from Calcutta700s,Trinidad 16,TDL20 and30's and Tyrnos20.Still I was not satisfied I had to have some Avet's SX,MLX JX and HX 2- speeds life was getting better, for a little while

Now after reading Gman's introduction to jigging and popping my head is reeling and I feel myself slipping back to the dark-side.Maybe it's not such a bad thing after all

I would like to build myself a jigging rod that I could use for inshore/offshore jigging[catch tuna up too 150lbs . I have been looking at the Jaws Evolution JI7603 7'.6" 20-40lbs class. jig wt 250-400g class on price $68.00 Acidrod.com. I'm thinking that this blank is too long for what I want and would like to cut about 12" off the butt end and 4" from the tip making 6'2",I know that this going to change the characteristics of the blank, I just don't know if it would be worth it ,but the price for the blank is attractive .
Paul708 I would like your input please sir,if you have in stock an OTI blank in this class250-400g ,braid line 80lb/PE-6 I would be interested in purchasing one from you.My budget for this rod allows sum flexibly, however I have set a max price on the blank is $140.00 I hoping to find a good blank in this price range.Oh I almost forgot this is going to be a spinning rod, with either a Shimano Saragosa 18000 or a Quantum Cabo 80PT . Thanks for you help and advice Rich

    Paul,
I think I found a new rod building candy store,I would like to visit you sometime in the next few weeks and look at some blanks if you have the time.I live about an hour away exit 13 NJ turnpike maybe I could come down on a Monday or Tuesday?Lets me know what would by a good time for you.

One quick question on Guides I see most rods are using Fuji SCII type guides I like Fuji but I'm just a little fonder of American Tackle products.I have have Atlas frame spinning/casting guides in Stainless steel with Zirconia rings which are very braid friendly,so do you think I could use them?

    Thanks for you help. Rich

BTW Nice reel seats, really slick, rod bling-bling

I'm afraid the only cure is to sell everything laying around and get the best available!

How long will you use the saragosa or quantom for before you get the stella?

... or do like us college dudes... go to a plasma center often enough to chip in for the Stella

LMAO go to the plasma center to save for a Stella.... That's very tempting.Unfortunately I already have another very expensive hobby and and A Stella is not in the budget for sometime.I think the Saragosa will have to do for the jigging rod and the Quantum for my popping Rod.When I do upgrade to a better reel my son will get the hand me downs.

    Paul708,
Sounds good I will give you a call mid week and set up
    appointment Rich

I'll get the Saragosa myself as well. They seem fine and there are nice reports with them.

Dude let me know how you like the Saragosa which one are you buying? The 14000 or 18000? I'm a bargan hunter and the Best price I've found is $279.00 for the SRG14000F on ebay.
