Swell Rider Sportfishing, Rough and Ready Charters...NC 10/04 Grouper Fest!!!!

Well since my charter canceled today my good friend Joe Hifko of Rough and Ready Charters who I commercial Grouper fish with called me last night to see if I want to do alittle commercial fishing today...Joe and I don't get a chance to do much fishing together during the main charter season so I jumped at the chance spend the day cartching Grouper and busting each other chops...We had our friend Phil join us for the day so we were set. We left New River Inlet alittle after 7AM and made the long run to the grounds, all 12 nm of it.. The first stop gave up a couple keepers and a ton of shorts. We made a few short moves and found fish on every stop. Anyone that say's North Carolina has a shortage of grouper hasn't fished down here.. The recruitment looks great!!!! There was tons of bait pushing on the surface and the King Mackeral were everywhere as well. Aside from the weather being perfect the best part was all these fish were caught insite of the beach... The fall Gag fishing looks like it's off to a great start.. I have to thank Joe again for everything he has taught me about grouper fishing in NC.. Remember it's only going to get better... I commercial Grouper fish on Joes C Hawk. I use my boat for Kings and GBFT.. Ken

Thats the anchor line. You just clip it off the stern cleet and drag it from sport to spot. When you go to anchor you approch the spot down wind or swell and just unclip the line and the hook sets and you swing over the spot.

I was gonna chime in on that Ken, but thought it might be a trade secret. Many of us northerners don't know/see that trick.

C-ya in less than a week!!!!!!!!! Wait till you see the new invention. My buddy and I got it finished this weekend and it is going to be a killer jigging product!!!!!!!!!!! It's the 1st prototype and I have not told a single person what it is yet. Your boat will be the firs to have it.

Looking foward to it myself...well be hitting a few spots that I fished earlier this summer, the BIG AJ'S are in there thick now.. I talked to a commercial buddy of mine he said it was all you wanted...About 40nm from the inlet..Get ready. Ken
