    Swell Rider Report..04/17, 04/18, 04/19

Well I was Finially able to link 3 days together and get some work done on the big pond...Spent a few hours friday jigging Bluefish and Sheepshead with Patrick, Jackie ( Merry Marlin) and Chris (Nauti Natured) even though the wind was still blowing we still had a great time jigging with lite tackle and the Blues were thick..

Saturday and Sunday was spent offshore Bottom Fishing with Travis, Jesse and Jackie. We left Atlantic Beach at 5:30 and were greeted with a great sunrise, light winds and a lazy swell..Our first stop was around 30 nm from the inlet, got set up on the piece and the fish were chewing to say the least, we worked that 90 to 120ft of water for most of the day as well as fishing a couple of wrecks in the area. It turned out to be a reel mixed bag day, Gag Grouper, Sea Bass, King Mackeral, Porgies,B-Liners, AJ'S, Bonitio and yes 6 American Red Snapper..All fish were caught on both bait and jigs, Jesse and Travis have been making there own Jigs and we surely put them to use this weekend, we used nothing but chrome jigs and most were not even finished and boy did we put a hurt on the AJ'S and Kings with thoses jigs..Just goes to show you that you don't need all those fancy Jigs to catch fish you just have to know how to use them and have good technique. Hopefully this next front will blow through quickly so we can get back out and hit it again...Ken

    Ken,
Had a good time this weekend and was glad the weather was good. I'm still feeling sore from all those fish you put us over. It was good to use the jigs i have been making this winter and see them catch. The fish didn't seem to mind my crappy finishes.

The picture doesn't do the jigs justice but they sure held up well with the amount of fish they produced so why bother with the facy finish...I'll be putting the rest of them to the test again this week, the weather sure looks good from Thurs. on..

Ken thanks for letting us fish you this weekend. We had a blast and I never thought I could catch so many sea bass. I hope you go through all those jigs and hope you get a shot to use the poppers. I'll have a good finish shortly for the jigs but like we said its more for us than the fish.

Also would like to say that you have the best damn office to report to for work than all of us. You work your ass for it but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

For anyone that is really into bottom fishing I highly recommend Swell Rider as Ken has these fish dialed in wether it be bait or jigging. I'm not just saying this because we are friends he is truely a master at this game. For us not to even be grouper fishing and still end up with 6 or so was awesome. If I didn't get rocked all the time we'd have more. There is definately alot of skill involved.

Hopefully we get down again soon and even try hitting up the stream for snowies, hoos, and the giants.
Thanks, email me the rest of the pics if you could.
