    Strong loop knots

I bought some wind on fluro leaders from basil and they are nice. I really need to learn how to a Bimini or an Aussie plait but I'm having are hard time at it by myself. Is there an alternative knot that will work? I be fishing this wknd and next week since I am on vacation at the shore. Going to jig and chunk every chance I get out at the 20 line lumps. Thanks.

The next bite on a jig.
Buckle down and learn the bimini. Its not hard. You should be able to master it in an evening, especially with braid. Not nearly as hard as mono.

That may in fact be your answer. Try to tie it a few times with mono. Then you will be amazed at how easy it is to do with braid.

If you learn how to do it right to start with, then you won't have to relearn it later.

Bimini is 95% easier with braid. Take an hour to learn and practice it.

I agree with braid being easier to use. As with all braid knots, make sure you put more wraps in the knot. I have been using the 70 wrap bimini on 65lb and 100lb braid with great success, no failings.....yet, LOL. I typically use 30 wraps on mono up to 50 lbs, but I plan on learning the Aussie Plait for my heavier lines. Take your time, and use lots of saliva to moisten the knots before pulling tight.

A neat trick I learned from Bouncer Smith and his mate Abie Raymond was to use the reel handle to hold your loop in place while tightening the bimini twist before you allow the line to wrap over itself. Has made my life so much easier.

Poor mans bimini .... four over hand knots, lubricate and pull tight. Here is a good video for both.

30 twists is unnecessary especially with braid. 12 to 15 twists is all you ever need on a good Bimini.

Jim, where's your video of the bimini? Thats the one I used. After many years avoiding a bimini, that made it very easy.

My "friends" were critical of it, so I took it down.

If I could get someone to help me shoot for a day, I would be willing to do a whole knot series for folks to use. I started it, but really need help to do the videos clearly.

My thoughts were to tie the knot, then show the actual testing with the scale.

I am comfortable doing these knots that test high for me:
-My bimini - loop to loop
-40 turn bimini - loop to loop
    -sig
    -slim beauty
    -bimini to no name

    Then:
    -Uni for connecting jigs

Maybe I could get a volunteer to do other knots like PR and mid? Dom's new knot appeared to be a series of half hitches like the gaff wrap I showed a few years ago Gaff Wrap But we will have to wait for clarification on that one.
