That couldn't be farther from the truth but every person has there own technique.

First basils wind ons are the best today IMHO. A wind on has its advantages and you dont need a bimini to make it work. I use a simple 4 turn overhand knot, it holds up great. Last weekend 4 tuna over 160 were landed using my gear which hand a windon connected via a 4 turn overhand knot.

With a double uni then two knots connecting the swivel to leader you have in total four knots that can fail. The wind on has none? but in the end you need to fish with confidence

The overhand knot I will use then until I get the bimini down pat. G the Basil instructions are somewhat confusing. It says to put the loop thru the other loop and then wrap the leader around 2x around the windon the place the loops together. This is where I'm lost. i found a site called wonderhowto.com and he does a loop to loop. Is this the same that Basil reccommends?
    Thanks, Rick

All he is saying to do is loop it through twice instead of once

    Rick,

    My 2 cents.

Everything, I don't give a chit what line class you are talking about starts with a double line, that's the only way to keep the breaking strength of the main line at 100% or better.

    I personally prefer a Bimini, I know if it's tied right it's 100%.
I am not sure about the strength of a 4 turn overhand knot ( I think 4 turns is an overkill) but I think a double surgeons loop (or a 2 turn overhand knot) is right up there around 100% as G-Man suggest - it's very strong and easy to tie knot, but I think it is a little bulky (expressly in mono) compared to a Bimini.

There is 1000 ways to skin a cat, but do yourself a favor. If you are going to fish for anything bigger than a brim or large mouth bass learn to tie a Bimini Twist.

Now all that being said. If you are fishing for something like flounder (or just fun fishing) with something like 50# power pro and using a 12 or 15# leader, yea just tie back to back uni's and be done with it, no world records or egos here, just fill the boat.

    Thanks,
I think I figured out the Loop to Loop connection. Man i complicate the shift outta myself. I need to start drinking again. As I said earlier I will use the overhand double line for now and if I loose a fish I will switch up to a swivel with Polamar and or clinch knot. I am anal that's why I'm sitting here frustrating myself but it's all worth it. Thanks, i really appreciate your insight and patience.
