With either, you are probably going to have to upgrade the drag after a couple of trips. I have never used either for jigging, my brother and another friend have tried both. The saragosa holds up better to the rigors of jigging but will still let you down after a few fish if you are getting into the biguns. My advice would be to bite the bullet and get a stella to start off with, in all liklihood you will end up doing this anyways.

The Saragoosa has the paladium gearing in them and are supposed to hold up better.

actually they both have the paladium gears, i think the drags in the saragosa or dartantium, but i really don't kwnow what they hell that means. I am not buying these as primarily jigging reels, i have three other rods for that (i prefer conventional). but in a pinch i would love to have some extra rods for casting poppers offshore if there is a surface bite or throw to some nice cobia. the rods will primarily be used for cobia, red drum, stripers and mahi, but if i get out blackfin fishing, it could be fun. I will do some research on the drags and see if there is a good drag upgrade that might hold up a little better. thanks for the help

Saragosa also has the waterproof drag. It's only $20 more than the Stradic.

actually the new stradics have the waterproof drags too. i ordered them today. i found them for $160 a peice. so about 60-70 buck cheaper. could not find a deal on the saragosa and the saragosa doesn't come with an extra spool

Funny Shimano doesn't mention that. Good luck with your Stradics. I have an 8000 too, it came broken though and haven't had a chance to get it fixed yet.

The rotor is cracked. I don't know if it got broke during shipping or what, the store replaced it and left me with the broken reel so I will see if Shimano will fix it or what.
