Best Catch: The next bite on a jig.
Seems like the only drawback is really transit. I'm thinking I could just pop a jig wrap on the split (and over my custom threadwork ) for the ride in and out.

Billy,
I have a question about threadwork choices. Is there a book? How does the process work when the skys the limit?

i like the split grips alot, i lock my armpit around the middle of the two grips, and if u do it urself, and try and pull the rod outa ur hands, the rear grip acts sort of like a stopper. w/ 35+lb drag, this is nice...plus more comfy and the smooth blank in the middle thats under ur arm does not catch ur shirt and want to move up and down etc while ur jigging. iuno, just me.

I am going with the split grip on this one. Now the question becomes, will it be on the Jaws blank I got this week from Acid Rods, or something else that I find at the show.

I'm pretty excited about getting some threadwork done in the space between the grips by Billy and the boys.

I'm going to have a lot of myself invested in this rod, more so than any other custom I have ever had done. I'm getting pretty stoked about it.

I'm a little lucky in fact that the largest rod building show on the east coast is in my backyard.

split grip

I know this would be a pain in the ass, but you could always take a 8 " pc of grip or so, split it on one side just cover the exposed section of blank while you are running so it doesn't rattle around in the rod holder. I have the same concerns with it not being locked in very well.
