Buddy if your going full on, use the Good stuff.
Stellas has the goods. If got a 20000 & 10000 and I would not change them. Exspensive but worth every cent. I watched a Video of a Indonesian guy that hooked a 300lb black Marlin on a 10000 with a Jig, 3 hours the reel did not buge. I'm sure Gman or some of the other Pro's would give you a good answer. They have much more experiance with reels. |

Are you planning on using the reel for jigging, or a general use spinning reel? All these factors play into which reel to go with. I assume you are working on picking a reel with in a price range. You want to post that info and then we can give advise on that. I personally haven't fished any of the reels you mentioned. The cabos and boca are good reels, you have saragosas and sustains too.

In the price range of the reels you have listed...I would go with the Spheros. The Saltist has a higher gear ratio than the others so that would be taken out of my consideration for jigging. My Cabo has caught plenty of nice fish too, but the spheros feels stronger.
As far as the stellas, of course they are going to be the cream of the crop, just look at the price and you can tell that. Not everyone can afford them though or needs them. It depends on your target fish and how often you plan on using it. Mitch |

What Mythosbeer said is true. I personally feel that the Saragosa is the better of the reels after you told me you want to jig. Jigging is more than half the wear and tear of the reel. It is a constant test of all the parts.
After seeing the abuse that people like Dom up in the cape have delivered to them they are very good for the money. I think they finally gave out on them but that is after many 150+lb tuna. If you are jigging a couple times a year then these reels are fine. If you want, need, gotta have the best, or fish that reel all year long then you go with the stella. The 18000, or 20000 reels are good size for that rod. Just go with lower gear ratio. I hate andything higher than 5.0:1 |

I have personally seen the Spheros take a serious licking and keep on ticking by some of our mutual friends here
![]() I bought two myself recently and love them. I think buy the Stella if you are looking for a place to put an extra $600 bucks ... but if not, the Spheros is a champ. |
