So I tried my hand at snook fishing...

Hey guys, i posted this in the florida forum too but i want to make sure you guys see this as its a nice combo btwn jigging and popping. Casting a jig on a huge casting rod and then jigging it in.

Any recomendations you have would be awesome! THANKS!

    QUOTED:
I have no idea why i havnt tried snook fishing for the last 19 or so years ive been fishing in florida. But today was my first time.

    No joy for me.

My buddy landed a 26" and other buddy almost landed a MONSTER. I got a couple bites but nothing. The biggest problem is that my friend had bogus tide info so instead of slack tide we got there right as tide picked up. So it was pretty ridiculous!

I would love to know what the guys that have been doing this for the last 19 years are using to catch em. i know you guys dont want to give away the best tricks, baits, lures, etc... but come on, what are the chances we're fishing the same inlet???

I appreciate any help i can get guys, thank you in advance!

    Tight Lines,
    Aaron

I know people in the jigging forum dont want to hear this but... Go net you a live well full of shiners. Throw out hand fulls of live ones and watch for the busts. Then hook one on and throw it where you saw the bust and hold on!

1/2 to 3/4 oz. jig head with large paddle tail swimbait body. Throw it out and reel in slow with pumps. Also try slow waking large Raplalas on top. Don't do this during the day. Night is right!

That has been deadly for us at night in winter at the Keys. I like to use slug-gos and small dark sticks baits. I fish them slow while twitching them nice and easy. It works for snook and tarpon.
