    Seminar

The seminar was very good. As with most manufactuer seminars it is a marketing promotion.
The concept that Shimano poses is a total system that includes rod, reel, line, leader and the jig itself. The best thing that I came away with was the fact that the Torsa and Trinidad reels spool over 40" of line for each crank of the handle. This is one of the secrets of the system. All your power is in the reel and not the rod. The rod has a relativity light action. This gives action to jig while fishing. The action of the jig provokes a reaction strike and not necesarily a feeding strike.
Check out the Shimano website and you can get all the information that was presented.
What you can't get from the website was all the freebies. Hats, rods and everyone got a jig.
Needless to say the marketing worked and I have ordered a Trevala rod along with a Trinidad reel.
Sunset Provisions has a good selection of all the items you will need to set up a jigging system.
I can see a lot of opportunities both inshore and offshore.

The new Trevala rod seems MUCH better than the old versions. The components are higher end and the flex seems to stop above handle with more backbone. An improvement for more inshore/light offshore species. im sure soon enough they will make something in the 400-500g weight for big game such as larger tuna etc

    New Rods

    gman,
They did have at the seminar the F series Trevala rods. Concept Fuji SIC guides, Palm style reel seat and a black diamond textured foregrip. Same jig weight ratings as the standard series. Looked real nice but not double the price nice ($199.00).

Im a big fan of the diamond foregrip, I love the look, feel and how its performs. The reel seat is the upgraded palm seat not the older version which is nice and I also like the way they made a tapered rear grip where the padding goes on the bottom as well. Its also extremely light. Like I said nice upgrade but with a lack of big muscle for big game fish I think it will be more suited for smaller fish and most wont spend $199 for that...we will see they market the hell of of it

The newer Trevalla rods also snap alot quicker and more often.
