SF Mag has a great article on braid connections

I tried the improved bristol that one the contest and after the 2nd practice knot I'm convinced through my own back yard testing it's definately the braid to mono knot to use.

I absolutely could not get it to fail and it's as compact a connection as you could want.

The best knot is defenitly the one you can tie with confidence and testing is the way to find that.

I have had good luck with the slim beauty, but only use it in a pinch if I don't have extra windons.

    Update

I tried the improved bristol with #80 Daiwa Boat Braid and #80 Seagar Flouro and it worked flawlessly.
