    seabass jigging

we had a trip last week.
    the bite was ok.
nice size fish mostly 16-18" fish.
all caught jigging 8oz hammered jig.
there were a invasion of the dogfish for the guys using bait.
even caught a few on the jigs.
ended the day with with some nice filets.

for a rod i was using the NEW batson swimbait blank.
it is a perfect rod for this type of fishing.
the blanks are 7'10" rated to 45# line
works well with 6-12oz jigs for bottom bouncing or slow retrive.

    after getting ready to eat.
i noticed how fish being bleed, make a differance.
here is a pic of the bled/unbled filets.
and the new rod, with titanium frame guides

Paul That is an interesting comparison. I believe in bleeding my fish but find myself getting lazy about it more then I would like.

I like the acid wrapped rod, looks good. What reel is that a Saltist?

    Best Catch
The next bite on a jig.
Thats wild about bleeding sea bass. I think that I often think about bleeding big fish, like the bluefin we kept the week before last, but not so much about the little guys.

I guess I should be more particular about all my fishies.

    TOG..cut into pieces.
    i like bigger pieces.

    boil water with brown sugar.
    put tog in.
    bring to boil again,
    take tog out.

    dip in melted butter.

the seabass i did in a beer batter.
really did not notice a big differance in taste,

one week i did boiled tog after it was bled.
    came out great.
next week a few pieces did not get bled.
came out grey, and didnt tase the same.
