SE NC Gag Jigging w/ Bonus

Afternoon dinner run ended up on a real good Gag bite. Steady pick of keepers then we got on a crazy bite where the Grouper were suspended 40ft of the bottom. Four 15lb fish following a hooked one right to the boat trying to grab the jig from its mouth. Couple double hook-ups with teen size fish. Lots of culling, venting and reviving. Had a 14lber come up floating so we ran over picked it up and released a 16lber that was still good in the live well. Released about twenty fish between 26" and 18lbs. Wish we got some pics during the Keystone Cops segment.

Well its only been a couple hours and it is absolutely gorgeous out so we run a little further off to 90'+ to see if we can find a Scamp or Red to add to the limit. Second drop a nice ARS. Catch a few more nice Gags and call it a day.

Saw a Whale on the 35kt cruise in.

All fish caught on my new TT-7221 210g blank. Both rods wrapped spinning. One with an Accurate Twinspin 12 and one with a Sargosa 18000. All fish caught on 4oz silver hammered diamond jigs and 160g Katanas (color ?). You can see what the ARS hit Jim. Thanks for the samples.

Wow! Sounds like a phenomenal bite. Maybe they would've hit a topwater?

The power of the potroast ( the color name inspired by the buffet)

    Pretty report Mike.

PS. I forgot to ask, who had their hand inside that groupers mouth?

Nice catch and report. By the way how much longer do we have to catch grouper till they close the season for recreational fishing?
