    San Diego - Charter Recomendations

    Hey Guys,

I am heading to Pacific Beach, right outside of San Diego to visit some friends... im heading out there with one of my regular fishing buddies and we're definitely interested is getting out on the water for at least one of the days.

I am looking for any suggestions/recommendation for charters, as well as general information on what species are prevalent that time of year, etc.

    Thanks,
    Justin

The next bite on a jig.
You could visit your friends the day you get back from one of those long range trips. Then you would have someone to give some fish away to.

Just catch them on the flip side.

Justin when you going? My buddy Greg is going in Feb so if it is after that then I'll have him look into it for you. Also Kil had been there before and going again, he might know some charters there.

Hey Trav - i am going from 12/30 -1/5... i have spoken with a six-pack captain out there... he advised me that the fishing isn't hot during Dec/Jan, that it would require an overnight trip into mexico's waters to put a decent trip together. He said at best i would get lucky to get into some yellowtail.

However, i appreciate the heads up and doent hurt to have a second/third opinion.

And that reel does look sweet.... hopefully i get to take it.

    thx bud.

That's about right for San Diego at that time. A really slow period for the most part. You'd almost be better taking a day trip to Ensenada (1.5 hour south of the border) and fishing from there. If you do fish San Diego it's going to be bottom fishing or pounding sand for halibut.

I recommend the Impulse out of Dana Landing for a 6 pack if you've got that many guys. They are in Mission Bay, 5 minutes from PB.

    WRONG TIME OF YEAR

You're not likely to catch anything worthwhile that time of year unless you go long range. Spend the money on tackle instead. Or just buy some floozies tequila shots in Old Town or the Gas Lamp district.

    Ill be doing that regardless...lol

Unfortunately I don't think that were going to pusue a day or overnight trip, as you mention the real way to go is a long -range trip...

We just don't have reough time. It was worth asking. Thanks everyone for your help. Guess I'll have to visit again later in the year.
