    So, I'm looking at getting a Saltist 30 or 40 ~ is this type upgrade something necessary I "should" do OR something that's just an option..?

    For saltist, the buzz is that it is a must have. Cheap insurance to help land your trophy.

    Depends on the Saltist. I found the high speed levelwinds already have carbon fiber discs. Not Carbontex from the looks, but they work pretty well. Saltiga drags should fit into a high speed saltist levelwind. Non Levelwind saltists still have the thin discs, the HA levelwinds have much thicker discs! They make the drag start up very smooth and that will help save your ARB. It tends to start slipping in the mid to low teens and having the drag slip easily and smoothly helps keep the ARB from popping.
