    Saltiga question conv.

I see that the Saltiga 30 and 40 each put out about 20# of drag.
The 40 is much heavier at 22 oz vs 17.
Aside from the obvious line capacity are they much different?
Is the 30 built with the same drag stack and gears? Or is it a much lighter application?

    THANKS

Actually the 30 has a smaller diameter. The 40 and 30T are all built off the same sideplates and have the same diameter. I have always thought the 30T should really be desinated 40N, because it is more accurate.

The 30 is one step down in diameter. It may be slightly wider than the 30T, I can't remember and don't have one to look at.

I will say the 30T's are great.

Daiwa Saltiga conventional reels spec 22lbs of drag as mentioned from the web link above. Saltiga 20 and 30 are 2/0 sized reels built from the same design but the 30 has a bit wider spool. The Saltiga 30T, 40, and 50 are 3/0 sized reels built from the same design with various spools widths. The 30T and 30 have the same line capacity but they are not the same reel.

Igot the info from the daiwa site.

Im trying to determine if the 30 has the same gears etc as
    30T, 40 and 50.

I appreciat the info it is a big help. It sounds as if the 30 is a bit lighter duty correct?

    Thanks again.

Im in the market for a 30t or 40 but have not found anythng but 30s

Saltiga 30 has a smaller frame and different drags/gears as the larger 3/0 sized Saltiga 30T, 40, 50.

The larger Saltigas will get you over 20lbs of drag.

I can also say that my little Saltigas 15 and 20 with Carbontex upgrade and Cals Drag Grease isnt even close to Daiwas claimed 22lbs drag. After warming up the drag and then hooking the scale up I was around 13lbs of drag. They avg about 9lbs of drag stock.
