i havent heard of them.
What did you hear about them to make you decide to get one built without knowing anything??
Do you mean Riley blanks? Cause they are nice sticks from what I can tell. Never fished one yet though.
Casey, if you are talking about Riley's I have a 500g one. I have a Torsa 30 on it and have fished 700g jigs with it. It is a hell of a rod, I am use to 200g stuff and would need to work out with it if I were going to use it much.
I am going to Mike's (Riley rod builder) house tomorrow afternoon. He is putting together a set of four rods for me.
thanks steve, yeah that is the blank that Sean is experimenting on for me for the deep drop rod/sword jigging rod i want. I meant Rile(y) rods and i was refering to the jigging blank i think thor. dang steve, if you are going to have to workout to use it, then i need to get a trainer to kick my ass or just go jigging for the aj's and ap's for a day!!!! I am going to match a tyrnos 16 two speed with in and putting pe5 saltiga braid on there (70#).
Paul, a friend of mine is experimenting on building and it was a relatively inexpensive blank that i belive that was locally made or sold here in NC. I wanted to stay on a budget and he wanted to experiment on something not too expensive. I had thought that there were some people i knew that had used them before. Worth a try at under $70.00 for the blank i believe. maybe this blank will break out and be worth what some of the higher priced ones are. they are a sponsor of the site, too.

Btw steve, you got to give up that jigging for a day and come up here for a visit and go for a good ole fashion drum bite off the eastern shore for a day. i am goin to try the week after easter. that is when they came in last year. I had some great early bites last year in april and the first week of may before most started fishing and it got crowded.
Steve, Sean mocked up the rrtt6850-st 5'8" 500g 5.4oz blank and that thing is a beefy blank and is going to be awsome. i am going to put the alps reel seat and the alps guides on it just below their top end guides and double wrap them acid wrapped. i think this rod is going to be awsome. shoot I was talking to Sean about possibly making a daytime sword rod out of this blank. He is debating about making a bent but deep drop rod out of the 750g rod they are making. this is the Thor thunder blanks and i think the same ones you are using. the whole setup with my tyrnos reel is going to be right at 40-45oz. riggedw/ pe5 70# saltiga braid
Casey
Casey, I miss the drum for sure. I never fished the inlets like has become popular in the last few years. That bite gets started much sooner than at the 9ft. We don't get the 50"ers down here much. They fish them in the Pamlico but there is something to be said for getting up in the breakers the way you boys do.
I will see if I can get away for it. Let me know what you do.
